Penetrators Ferus 45 I'll Make You Mine

The Penetrators from Crown Point, NY

Penetrators Penstar 45 Guitar BoogieThe Penetrators came from Crown Point, NY, on the west shore of Lake Champlain above Ticonderoga.

Members included Dan Rabideau and Larry Rabideau, Kim Joiner and Joe Dugan on bass. John Hoffman seems to have been a later member of the group.

There is a single by the Penetrators on Penstar Records 1146, “Guitar Boogie” / “Coming Home Baby”, both instrumentals. I’m not yet positive this is the same as the Crown Point group.

Penetrators Ferus 45 I'll Make You MineIn March of 1968 they made what I believe to be their second record, the cool garage original “I’ll Make You Mine” by Dan Rabideau and Kim Joiner, backed with a good instrumental, “Splitter Splatter” by Dan Rabideau and Larry Rabideau.

The 45 came out on Ferus Records FR 4958. Ferus had an address of 64-12 60th Pl., Brooklyn 27, New York. Tommy Wilde produced the single, I’m not sure how the band came to find Ferus.

Danny and the Penetrators Ticonderoga Sentinel 1971
1971 Battle of the Bands
This is a styrene 45 with the Columbia custom pressing code ZTSP 124958/9. Both songs published by Ferus Music BMI.

As Danny and the Country Penetrators they put out a single that I haven’t heard, “She’s My Mother-In-Law” / “I’ll Be Waiting” on Delta Records in June of 1968.

The band was well known locally as as Danny and the Penetrators. They appeared on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour and continued with local bookings into the 1970s.

From a 1971 news item, it appears the Rabideau’s mother Doris managed the band.

Info on the band from a Port Henry forum. Thank you to Anthony M. for the original 45.

Anyone have a photo of the group?

  1. Hi. I am Danny Rabideau’s wife. We are excited that people remember the old band The Penetrators. Danny still writes some and has become a solo entertainer doing vocals and playing his prize! (An autographed Maton 808 by Tommy Emmanuel). Believe it or not, we still have some of the records! He is very touched that there is still an interest in his 1960’s band. Thank you

    1. Does he remember coming to Ticonderoga Middleschool in 68, 69 or spring of 1970? Us middleschool girls were very impressed and I am sure some of us wore makeup and try to look older for their benefit. lol. ❤️Hello to you and your hubby.

  2. This record is a part of good memories. I introduced the boys to Tom Wilde. We did a session together at the Tucker Studio in Glens Falls, NY.
The Penetrators recorded this record, and also backed Tom Wilde on a song called “Hey Mr. DJ” as well as backing me on a song called “Hey Hey Mama.” I had had this out before, but it was the Feria release that received such heavy airplay in the northeast and New England that I was booked as an opening act with Johnny Cash and his troupe. Last year had a reunion with Dan and he is going to be with us when we play a show in Hague Town Park on July 3rd, 2019 at 6:30PM.

    1. I will be opening for Marty in Hague on July 3rd. Will be the first time in over 50 years we have shared the stage. Going to be a great night. I have a Patriotic show planned for everyone that I am sure you will all enjoy. And I know you will all enjoy Marty. Going to be one heck of a night’s entertainment!!! If you are going to be sitting in your lawn chairs, put on your seat belts.

      1. WOW. I can’t wait. Haven’t heard your music since The days at the Community Building dances in 1964. You guys could play like no other. My favorite song was “Wipe Out”.🌸💜❤️🥁🎸🥁🎸🎼🥁

  3. GOSH WOULD LOVE TO BE IN JULY.,BUT HEALTH AND AGE STOPS ME.LAST TIME I HAD THE PLEASURE OF YOU AND YOUR MUSIC WAS A FEW YRS AGO AT PORT HENRY BEACH DANNY. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE ENJOYMENT YOU HAVE.

  4. Can’t wait for July 3rd. I’ll pick up Shar and be there! I used to be so proud and made to feel so special as I got to ” hang out” with the band. I was 8 and the niece of Kim Joiner. I felt like I was their mascot. They would practice at my grandparents home. Loved those times and guys.

  5. Remember the band from my childhood had a recording off of radio that I believe I still have on small reel to reel recorder almost believe the song had something to do with mother in laws havent seen my reel to reel player since the 70s though its packed in a box in the attic But I remember playing the heck out of it.

  6. I’m Joe Dugan’s (the original bassist) great nephew, and I’m so happy people still remember Danny and the Penetrators I recently found that my uncle Joe was in a band and started when he was just 11. And because I am in a metal band band as the lead guitarist I decided to dive deeper and I’m glad I did because the music posted on Youtube is awesome and he still has his bass to this day.
